Vietnam is a country with approximately 86 million inhabitants. Neighboring countries are China, Laos and Cambodia. Adjacent seas, the Gulf of Tonkin, the South China Sea and the Gulf of Thailand. North Vietnam (Bac Bo) is dominated by mountains and central high plains. East lie the alluvial plains, with rivers, the Song Hong River delta and a narrow coastal strip. In central Vietnam (Trung Bo) are consistent with mountains and coastal beaches, lagoons and sand dunes. South Vietnam (Nam Bo) is hilly and is home to the delta of the Mekong river. Along the coast of Vietnam runs a chain of islets and coral reefs. The country has a tropical monsoon climate with four seasons northern and southern two. The capital Hanoi has about 1 ½ million inhabitants. Places are the Ho Chi Minh mausoleum, various museums and the Old Town. Other cities are Hanoi, Can Tho, Da Nang, Hai Phong, Ho Chi Minh City and Saigon. At the World Heritage list of UNESCO are the Complex of Hue Monuments, the Ha Long Bay, the ancient city of Hoi An, the My Son sanctuary and national park Phong Nha-Ke Bang. Other sights include Halong Bay, the Mekong Delta, the Sa Pa mountain regions around the Marble Mountains, the white beaches and red sand dunes near Mui Ne, the Cu Chi tunnels, the Ho Chi Minh City, Lak lake and the many national parks.
