Travel information Yemen : Yemen is an Arab country with a population of 23 million people. To the north of Yemen is Saudi Arabia. Eastern is the state Oman. In the south Yemen has a coastline on the Arabian Sea and the Gulf of Aden, which also borders on Somalia. To the west lies the Red Sea, which borders with Eritrea and Djibouti. Yemen is a member of the Arab League and is an oil producing country. Geological this country is characterized by inhospitable desert landscapes and high mountains. Yemen has a desert climate in the Tihama region and in the Mountains a milder climate, with some colder winters. With 1.1 million inhabitants is the capital Sanaa, whose city has been declared world heritage. According to legends, the city founded by Sem (son of Noah). Other major cities are port city of Mocha (where the coffee is named for), port and industrial city of Aden, Sa'dah, As-Sjalif, Al-Hoedadjah, Ibb and Ta'izz. On the World, the city of Shibam, with its high-rise known as the Manhattan of the desert, the historic centre of the city of Zabid and Socotra, a small archipelago in the Indian Ocean. Approximately one third of the species of flora and fauna come nowhere else in the world.
