The state of Israel is a country in the Middle East with a population of approximately 7 million inhabitants. Israel has borders with Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Egypt and two Palestinian territories: the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. Furthermore, the country on the west side has a coastal strip with the Mediterranean sea and east with the Red Sea. For the most part there is a Mediterranean climate, with warm, dry summers and mild winters, with some precipitation. Geographical features are the Negev desert, the coastal areas, the Jordan Valley and a centrally located mountain range. With a population of 750,000, Jerusalem is the capital. Among other things, this is characterized by the sights: the Wailing Wall, the Temple Mount, with the rock dome and the Al Aqsa mosque, the old center and the city walls on top. Other important cities are Tel Aviv, port city of Haifa, Rishon LeZion, palm city of Jericho, Ashdod and Nazareth. The UNESCO World Heritage Site lists the counts (artificial hills) of Beër Sheva, Hazor and Megiddo, the Massada, a castle on a rock by the Dead Sea, the holy places of the Baha'i Faith in Haifa and the incense route and desert cities ( Avdat, Halutza, Mamshit and Shivta) in the Negev desert. The old port city of Akko and the White city in Tel Aviv are also on the list.
