Saudi Arabia is a country in the Middle East with around 28 million inhabitants. The kingdom is located on the Arabian Peninsula and has eight neighboring countries. In the north Jordan, Iraq and Kuwait. In the south Bahrain, Yemen, Oman and the United Arab Emirates. To the east lies the Red Sea and to the west the Emirate of Qatar and the Persian Gulf. Saudi Arabia is largely in a plateau area and the landscape consists of a chain of desert areas. And there is also a desert climate. Along the coasts it is slightly damp. Riyad is the capital of Saudi Arabia. It has 3½ million inhabitants. Sights are the old Al-Bathaa region, the Masmak Fort, the Murabba Palace, the King Faisal center, the King Saud museum and the camel market. Other important cities are Abha, Dharan, Jeddah, Hail, Khaybar, Khobar, Medina, Mecca, Tabuk, Taif, Unayzah and Yanbu. Sights include the archaeological sites Al-Faw and Rabdhah, the holy places Mecca and Medina, the Al-Qashalah Fort in the city of Hail and the city of Jedda, along the old city wall are the Jedda museum, the Shorbatly house, the Municipality museum and the Al-Shafee mosque. Furthermore, the tombs of Madain Salah in Taif, the Shada Palace near Abha and the Asir National Park.
